Item showed up in great condition. The only problem we had was the shipment time. It took exactly one month from day of order to day of delivery. Seems awful long, even for standard ground shipping. I have had this vacuum for 2 months, and it has been used to vacuum carpets once a week in my home. It has not been abused, yet while I was cleaning the hallway yesterday, the front left hinge just broke off and landed on the floor. The vacuum now does not steer. I called Dyson customer support and was instructed to bring my vacuum to an authorized service center 50 miles away from my home, and had the service rep argue with me about the distance. I was also told "that's all dyson can do" and when I asked if I was supposed to be paying for this repair, he said he didn't know. This is totally unacceptable customer service, and what's even worse is the vacuum has not been used or abused! <br /> <br />The claims Dyson makes about superior suction are also not true - I have stood there trying to vacuum up a pine needle from a Christmas tree for 5 minutes, as the machine never sucked it up. I finally ended up picking the pine needle up off the floor and putting it in the garbage myself. What did I just spend $500.00 on a vacuum for, again? <br /> <br />My husband, who is a mechanic, looked at this machine and said it's very cheaply made and poorly designed. He predicts if we get this repaired, the next thing to go will either be the hose or the brush roller as both of them are already worn. <br /> <br />I will never buy a Dyson product again. I used a DYSON DC14 on my carpet and it literally chewed the carpet and left "hair" all over my loop carpet and places where I stopped to move the cord it chewed down into the carpet and left ragged marks the width and length of the beater bar. I have addressed this issue with DYSON and the BBB and they are not willing to stand behind the product. If you value your floor DO NOT BUY A DYSON!!! Oh and DYSON's response was their vacuums tend to be agressive on some types of flooring. Maybe they should say that in their advertising? DYSON also suggested turning the beater bar off and using it in bare floor mode on my carpet how ignorant is that? Why else would you purchase a vacuum cleaner.
